The
Sopranos ended without resolution--bad enough--but also with a childish prank. As the haphazard episode came to a close, the screen went black. Millions of viewers (myself included) thought their cable went on the blink. Thousands also (sadly enough, myself again included) struggled to remember if they'd paid their last cable bill. Now, after that abysmal ending to what once was a great show, some high brow critics are now struggling to sing the praise of this debacle. They can be found here, for example, "praising the iconic HBO drama for capturing life's essential ambiguity and disorderliness." Wow...I'd have loved those words when I turned in an incomplete term paper in college.
