As Iraq crumbles further into chaos, death & destruction, George Bush is also going further--into denial. NBC News announced today that they would, from now on, call the Iraq mess a civil war. Of course, a Bush administration spokesperson objected, mumbling some nonsense that it was not a civil war--which would, of course, admit the catastrophic failure of their haphazard strategy--but rather multiple sectarian conflicts. The best retort I heard today was from Chris Matthews--"What are they waiting for, shots to be fired on Fort Sumter?".
