After watching Friday night's debate, I wasn't quite sure who would be declared the 'winner'. I knew Obama was on his game -- performing better than in any of the primary debates in the spring -- but McCain surprised (or should I say disappointed) me; he also performed better than he had in any of the Republican primary debates. This was particularly unexpected, given his oddball behavior in the preceding week.
Now the polls are coming in showing that Obama edged out McCain, while post-debate commentators have said either that Obama won, or that it was a tie. Only hardcore McCain supporters say he won the debate.
So...both candidates satisfied their supporters, but as for the all-important undecided independents, the following clip of a focus group immediately after the debate shows that Obama may have moved many more independents toward him. And the clip is from Fox News !?!? I guess they can, on occasion, actually be--as they claim--fair & balanced. Just like a broken clock can be right twice a day.
